Student nurses join some doctors to work in a medical station a few hours flying-time from the Mexican town of Catamaco. One of their planes goes down due to an engine malfunction and crashes in the rain forest. This is the story of the attempts to save the lives of the passengers (both nurses and doctors).

True story recounting the crash of Eastern Airlines, Flight 401, which crashed in the Everglades while on approach to Miami in December 1972. Accurate in many respects, the movie goes through the events leading up to the crash, the crash itself, and the rescue effort afterwards.

Diane and Greg Halstead were once happily married, even deciding to try and have a baby in later years, despite the fact that she had already suffered two miscarriages. She has no luck in becoming pregnant and this leads to an estrangement from her husband. On his latest flight, Greg, a professional pilot, finds out about a bomb threat. The person carrying the bomb supposedly wants to kill another passenger, a politician with an outspoken opinion on abortion. Unknown to the killer, however, the politician has already left the plane because it had an hour and a half delay. Greg decides to make an emergency landing in Dayton, Ohio, but during the heavy weather, the plane crashes, killing almost everyone on board.

A female police detective tries to track down a gang of teenage bank robbers while dealing with sexual harassment on the job, and her troubled home life.

Our story concerns a couple in their early 30s - Paul and Molly - who inherit a river house on a plot of land just outside of Austin, Texas. They excitedly spend their nights and weekends there, fixing it up and trying to get a hang of rural life. Gordon, a farmer in his 50s who has leased and tended the acreage for decades, is hesitant to accept his new landlords as members of his home; Molly and Paul have not yet earned their country credentials, so he takes it upon himself to test their fortitude.
